“FROM THE BOW TO THE SKY…”

THE ART OF CHILD-CARE #1

by Bipin Balachandran

“Child is the father of man”- how often have you heard this quote… but do we really ponder its meaning?  It is a poetic insight into human nature. It is in childhood that one picks up the essential factors which would later determine ones character as a grown up.  That is to say both physical and mental wellbeing of a matured human being owes much to his/her experience as a child.  Child care then is a very serious matter to deal with.  To become good parents involves a great effort; a conscious perseverance which would keep the track of a growing being from its very first ‘bla bla’ or even long before that, from its first move inside the womb. What the term care really
means is not only what you provide for your child, but also the whole atmosphere in which a child grows up. A better understanding of your child’s physical and emotional condition will help you to design the proper ambience for your child. Remember, it all start with effective communication; be a good listener to your child. Try to imagine your childhood-dreams and how they have changed. The most important thing is, consider your child as an individual, not as one to fulfill your blocked out desires…It is just a beginning , not an end in itself…Your child is an arrow, ready to reach the sky and you are the bow…!
