49 week of Milestones
You may find your baby not mixing with other kids playing around. This simply means that your baby is a loner and enjoys playing alone. If this is the case let him/her play alone, never attempt to force him/her or push him/her to mix up with other kids. Some children do want to play with other kids but are shy to het mix with them. If you notice them seeing other kids, get over to them and sit there while they start playing with them. Once you are sure that he/she is feeling comfortable now, you can leave then.
Birthday party tips
- Arranging your baby’s first birthday is very exciting so try to have fun and don’t sweat the small stuff – your baby doesn't have any expectations.
- Don’t invite too many people. It is far too daunting for a baby and he/she may end up clinging to you all the time.
- Serve wholesome snacks that are safe for young children – don’t risk a child choking on nuts or popcorn.
- Don’t bother inviting a clown or magician – they may frighten your baby or his/her guests.
- Put drop sheets out – parties will destroy your carpets.
- Put away all breakable and fragile items – with other children around, there is no way you will be able to supervise them all the time.
